What to expect at mass

  1. The Church is cleaned with CDC compliant sanitation regulations before each Mass

  2. Everyone over the age of 10 are required to wear masks throughout the entire mass.  The only exception to this is when receiving the Precious Body of Christ during Holy Communion, which will be addressed by the Priest at the appropriate time.

  3. Social/Physical Distancing spacing is required at all times while in the building.  To help maintain this requirement please wait to be seated by an usher.  The current practice is to allow one household per pew or two individuals per pew, alternating pews. Household is defined as persons living in the same house or those who share a dorm room.

  4. Social distancing does not apply when passing others, such as when people are coming forward to receive Communion.

  5. Throughout the mass we will have instrumental music, however, singing, choirs, cantors, etc. are currently not allowed.  Therefore, all responses will be spoken.

  6. We are currently restricted from passing any materials out, thus, we will not be passing around an offertory basket; however, there are baskets at the back of either end of the church.  We will also not be passing out any bulletins, so more information regarding CCM or St. Bede can be found on their respective websites

  7. Each individual that attends mass is expected to be able to say no to the following questions:

  • Have you had a fever within the past two weeks?

  • Do you have any new cough or new shortness of breath?

  • Have you been exposed to anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past two weeks?

  1. Daily Mass and the 11 am Sunday Mass will be Live-streamed on Catholic Campus Ministry at William & Mary Facebook Page

  2. The system for signing up for Mass is still being evaluated and reviewed for easiest access for all members of the community.  Please come back for more details in the coming weeks.

  3. If you are interested in volunteering at Mass, please reach out to our Liturgy Chair, Sam Burridge, at shburridge@email.wm.edu

  4. IF this did not answer the question you are looking for, reach out to Marianne Guarnieri via email at mguarnieri@wmccm.org and she will be happy to answer your question to the best of her ability.  It might even get its own bullet point, if applicable.

What are we doing to maintain a safe Environment

We are staying true to our mission which is to make God known on William & Mary's campus guided, inspired, and directed by the teachings of Christ and His Holy Church.  In order to accomplish this mission we need to meet guidelines that are given to us by the Governor, the Diocese and William & Mary.  Therefore the following rules and guidelines must be adhered to by all members of the CCM Community, Staff, visitors, vendors etc.

  1. Masks must be worn when in the CCM Student Center.

    • The only exception to this is if you are in a room by yourself for an extended period of time.  If someone enters the room you are in you must resume wearing your mask immediately.

    • If you are gathering to coordinate an event, host a small group, or just hang out and chat, masks may be removed during the moments when you are speaking to be better understood; the mask has to be replaced when the statement is concluded.  (Think of this that your personal unmute/mute gesture, if speaking=unmute/unmask, if not speaking=mute/mask.)

  2. Physical Distancing must be maintained between individuals not of the same household at all times, a 6 ft. distance between persons.  The term household will be defined as it is laid out by William & Mary.  This means your dorm mate or your suite mate.

  3. The facilities will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with the CDC guidelines.

  4. Hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies will be made available as needed to further clean and disinfect the CCM Student Center.

  5. Anyone using a space in the CCM Student Center is encouraged to disinfect the space that you were just using before leaving the CCM Student Center.

  6. By entering the CCM Student Center you will acknowledge the following:

    • Your temperature is under 100.4 degrees (self-administered).

    • You or anyone in your household does not have a new cough or shortness of breath.

    • In the past two weeks you or anyone in your household has not had a fever.

    • In the past two weeks you or anyone in your household has not been exposed to anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19.

  7. Food Guidelines are forthcoming but at this time the Kitchenette is not available for you.  You may not store food in the refrigerator, you may not use the toaster oven, you may not use the dishes... basically if it was communally used before, it is not to be used now.  You can use the Keurig and microwave if you disinfect it after you use it.
  8. What about the Student Lounge (a.k.a. the Catacombs or the Cats)?
    • Students are welcome to use the Catacombs as a place for studying or gathering together: to play games or watch movies.
    • However, physical distancing must be maintained and masks must be worn wherever more than one person is gathered, but that is okay because God will also be there ;).
    • If equipment is used such as game controllers, remotes, or board games, students are expected to disinfect them with provided disinfecting wipes.
  9. What about the library/study room/conference room?
    • Students are welcome to use the Library as a place for studying or gathering together for group projects.
    • Physical distancing must be maintained and masks must be worn whenever more than one person is gathered.
    • Students are expected to disinfect spaces that they are using when they vacate the space.
    • Students are allowed to borrow books from the lending library.  In order to do you please
      • Request the book from a campus ministry staff member so they can retrieve it for you.
      • When the book is returned, the student can place it in the provided plastic container.
  10. IF this did not answer the question you are looking for, reach out to Marianne Guarnieri via email at mguarnieri@wmccm.org and she will be happy to answer your question to the best of her ability.  It might even get its own bullet point, if applicable.
